What is Rehabilitative Chiropractic with Dr. Lew?
Someone once said to Dr. Lew that she always makes people feel comfortable in their own skin. This was one of the biggest compliments she ever received. Her mission as a person, a teacher, and a doctor is to help folks find their fun back and to discover and re-discover activities and habits that make them move with ease and fill their hearts with joy. Integrating mindfulness and positive messaging while helping individuals discover movements and body positions that feel good promotes a happier state of mind and overall well-being.
Instead of focusing solely on diagnoses or MRI results, she helps individuals explore what is possible and find what works best for their unique needs. Whether it’s rediscovering the joy of dancing, taking up swimming or pickleball, or finally achieving pain-free, restful sleep after years of lost hope - it's a true gift.

Adjustments to the spine help us move better. The mid-back, where the ribs attach to the spine, can easily get locked up even from our day to day activities. From being hunched over a laptop to drilling holes to install a sink, these tasks can cause this part of our spine to feel painful, stuck, and worn out.
The mid-back is also where we hold a lot of stress. The sympathetic nervous system is housed in this region and therefore when this area doesn’t feel good, we can almost feel an increased sense of anxiety and overwhelm.
By combining a variety of styles of adjustments with patient-specific home movement programs, Dr. Lew will help you find your flexibility and ease once again.
The low back bears the weight of the world every day, as it supports half of our body’s weight which can put quite a strain on the spine, sacrum, and pelvis. When this area gets locked up, the joints ache and the low back and gluteal and leg muscles become painful. By adjusting the lumbar and sacroiliac joints, movement will be restored and the muscles are no longer stuck in a state of reactive hypertonicity.
Instability can also occur in the sacroiliac joint causing relentless pain that doesn’t seem to ever go away. In this case, low force adjustments to re-align the sprained joints along with using a stabilizing orthopedic supportive brace will be essential.
Of course, in either the locked joint or the unstable joint, the key is to incorporate the best recipe of specific strengthening and loosening exercises to aid in return to comfort.
Dr. Lew, as a rehabilitative chiropractor, will work with you to help you restore movement, stability and function. This will allow you to sit comfortably for extended periods of time, be able to once again go on long walks and hikes, and to get back to the movements you love to do.
Our extremities have many movable parts as well. When there’s even a small amount of pain and lack of movement in our feet, we feel it throughout our body. In the case of “old” joints that have been given the “bone on bone” or “arthritis” diagnosis, traction combined with various types of massage, stretches, and exercises can play a huge role in decreasing the pain messaging. Early mobilization after injury helps speed up recovery. And, of course, the hope is there is less degenerative changes to the joint.
Dr. Lew has a simple and effective soft tissue and adjusting approach to all the extremities that can have a dramatic effect on the body’s well-being. Going from unable to raise your arm to reach your hand in the sky to standing under the stars holding your arms up in the rejoicing “yes” position is a life changing event. Going from limping from an old ankle sprain to racing around with a happy puppy or child feels amazing.
When you regain the freedom of moving your arms and legs with ease, you will notice how wonderful it is, and your smile will return.
